My Learning Object

Welcome to TimeToast!

For my learning object, I learned how to use a resource called TimeToast. This is a great user-friendly website that allows the user to create a timeline about anything they want.  I created a timeline about my life and was able to include important events that happened in my life starting from my birth!

I think that this would be a great resource to use in the classroom for any subject. TimeToast could be a great way to assess students' learning at any part of the unit (beginning, middle, and end). For a diagnostic assessment, students can quickly make a brief timeline of what they know about a certain subject (i.e. the history of Canada) and submit it to the teacher. As a summative assessment, students can be asked to create an elaborate timeline that incorporates everything they have learned in the unit, complete with visuals and links to other resources. Older students could use TimeToast to show how visual art or music has changed through the eras, or even retell the plot of a story using a timeline. Younger students could also use TimeToast to create a timeline about their own lives just like I did! It would be a great way for me, as a teacher, to learn more about the students at the beginning of the year!

This great technology resource is adaptable to all areas of the curriculum and it very easy for students to use! The teacher can even use the timeline as a way to show an overview of a unit, or of the school year so that the students can see the agenda in a visual way. In addition, TimeToast allows the user to attach pictures to each event, which would provide younger learners with both text and visual cues.

Overall, I really like this resource because it is very simple to use and can easily be used in many different subject areas! :)

Sincerely,

Ms. Leung
